Are you interested in fat tire biking, but don’t know where to start? Hartley Nature Center will be offering 3 Intro to Fat Tire Biking lessons this winter. Each lesson covers everything you need to know to enjoy a day on the trails of Hartley Park and beyond. We’ll begin our 2hr lesson inside the classroom where you’ll learn about the equipment needed for fat tire biking, how it differs from mountain biking, how to dress for cold weather riding, and what the winter trail etiquette is. Then we move outside were we’ll cover the basic skills needed for a day on the trail, before finishing our day riding the multi-use trails of Hartley Park. While this class is designed for beginner level riders, participants should feel comfortable on a bike, and have a moderate level of fitness. Fat tire biking can be more physically demanding than other forms of biking.
Age Requirement: Must be 15yrs old or older. Youth must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
Cost: *$50 (includes fat tire bike & helmet rental). If cost is a barrier to participation, please reach out to us via phone or email to ask about scholarship opportunities. Registration is limited to 6 participants, so sign up early to secure your spot. This lesson is January 30th from 6-8pm.
